Batavia Public Schools
Like the environmental work of our community, the green efforts of the Batavia Public School are coming from many who care: the superintendent, teachers, parents, and most importantly the kids.
The Rotolo Middle School Ecology Club is providing valuable recycling support, taking cans and plastic containers from the classroom and putting them in the appropriate receptacle for pick-up. The Republican ran an article about their work on November 1, 2007 and put together a You Tube video. Take a look.

Biology classes at the high school are challenged with problem-based learning units on sustainability. Teachers and Board members are asking the students for their solutions to environmental problems at school. They are addressing real environmental concerns and issues. Students research and propose real cost-effective solutions.
The administration is working on improved energy efficiency in the high school and grade school expansions. They are working to improve the recycling of computers and daily waste. They are using more green cleaning products.
Parents through the Alice Gustafson PTO have sponsored a used clothing sale for years. The Hoover Wood PTO had their first one this spring.
Many are working to make this district green.
